Wood composite tiles are ideal for basement flooring because its top is kept dry due to its anti-moisture barrier. The DRIcore panels that use in place of plywood or sleepers for subflooring systems.
DRIcore 7/8 inch thickness is an advantage over other materials for flooring. Its per square foot is said to carry up to 4000 lbs of weight that is a lot of strength for a garage floor. A 2-square-feet DRIcore panel weighs around 8 lbs.
The panels’ grooves and tongue edges can easily snap together using a block of wood and hammer. It is not advisable to use glue. The DRIcore panel can be severed by woodcutting saw.
It is common for wood composite garage floor tiles to expand and adjust to climate changes. It is recommended to have a ¼ inch extra space around its perimeter. Secure the first row panels with concrete screw and protect the front edge with transition strip.
However, the DRIcore is difficult to find. You may need to find someone who can use the search feature of the DRIcore website to look for the panel then place an order to either lowes or home depot. Its price is around $1.75 per sqr ft or $7 per tile.
